The Harvard Law School Association of Washington, DC is pleased to invite HLS alumni and friends to our annual spring celebration, featuring our Keynote Speaker, the Honorable Jamie Raskin, '87, Maryland’s 8th Congressional District representative in the U.S. House of Representatives.
HLSA-DC's annual celebration brings Harvard Law School alumni together, to strengthen the bonds of our community, pursue our mission of advancing the cause of legal education while promoting the interests of Harvard Law School, and fostering good fellowship among all HLSA-DC members.

The keynote speech will take place at the Ceremonial Courtroom at the US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit. At the event, Congressman Raskin will receive the inaugural HLSA-DC Impact Award. After the keynote speech, attendees will have the opportunity to attend a reception with hors d’oeuvres and drinks at the Atrium. This is not a fundraiser, the tickets are to cover the cost of the event.
Congressman Raskin is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Law School and is a former editor of the Harvard Law Review. Congressman Raskin served on the House Judiciary Committee and the Committee on House Administration, as well as Chair of the Oversight Subcommittee on Civil Rights and Civil Liberties and Chair of the Rules Subcommittee on Expedited Procedure. Prior to his time in Congress, he earned a reputation for building coalitions in Maryland to deliver a series of landmark legislative accomplishments, including marriage equality, abolition of the death penalty, passage of the first Benefit Corporation law in America and the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact. He was also a professor of constitutional law at American University’s Washington College of Law for more than 25 years. He has authored several books, including the Washington Post best-seller Overruling Democracy: The Supreme Court versus the American People, the highly-acclaimed We the Students: Supreme Court Cases For and About America’s Students, and the New York Times #1 best-seller Unthinkable: Trauma, Truth and the Trials of American Democracy. Congressman Raskin will deliver a speech he's entitled "Democracy, Autocracy, the Rule of Law and Constitutional Patriotism in America."
Admission is capped at room capacity. Masks are optional. Business attire is suggested.
