Virtual Panel: Current Pressing Issues Arising from a Presidential Executive Order to Limit Birthright Citizenship
Please join us on October 30, 2025 at 6 p.m. for a virtual panel discussion including remarks by nationally known experts, Felicia Escobar Carrillo and Adam Hunter, both of whom are HKS graduates.
The panelists have extensive expert experience in immigration and citizenship question issues and will lead a presentation on the current controversy making its way through the courts, including the Supreme Court, concerning birthright citizenship. Birthright citizenship is the concept contained in the post-Civil War Constitutional Amendments, especially the 14th Amendment, which has upheld the conclusion that if an individual is born on U.S. soil then the individual is a U.S. citizen even if the parents are not U.S. citizens. There is a very narrow exception for children of diplomats born in the U.S. This matter is the subject of current litigation in the courts as part of a complicated set of proceedings involving injunctions/stays prior to any determination of a review of the merits of the Executive Order’s legality/constitutionality.
The panelists will take questions from the audience.
